The first cervical vertebra (atlas) is part of the atlanto-occipital joint (C0-C1).

The first cervical vertebra (atlas) is part of the atlanto-occipital joint (C0-C1). This is probably the most protected joint in the whole body, buried deep under four layers of muscles. A lasting solution for the alignment of the atlas is only possible by addressing and working with these muscles.
